The brand that brought us the wildly successful Genesis X1 is back yet again to bring to market an affordable automatic. For those of you who don’t know the story behind LIV, I encourage you to read my initial coverage of their first Kickstarter campaign a few years ago. LIV took the watch world by storm when their Kickstarter campaign for the Genesis X1 was funded within hours of its initial launch. The masculine ethos, well-thought-out design and an affordable price, made LIV a refreshing new entrant on the watch market. Fast forward to the present and the designers over at LIV have been hard at work trying to come up with their next big hit. Everyone please meet the latest gamechanger, the Genesis X1-A.
Keeping the same aesthetic as its older brother, the Genesis X1-A comes in at a robust 42mm. Featuring a Sellita SW200 movement, a multi-layered dial with date-window, 316L stainless steel case and multiple strap offerings, the Genesis X1-A is another showstopper--we have come expect nothing less. I won’t spoil all of the secrets of the Genesis X1-A you can visit their campaign for the watch here. What I will say in closing is that this brand shattered expectations once again. At the time of this article the project has been live for 10 days and they have already raised 397k surpassing their goal of 40k. LIV makes me excited again about the possibility of crowdfunded watches. We have seen so much dilution on the market lately that seeing an authentic product from a brand that was born on Kickstarter is incredibly refreshing. If I haven’t encouraged you to check out their campaign by now, odds are you probably won’t but you are definitely missing something special.
I almost forgot, the Genesis X1-A is priced at under $500 USD. Are you listening now?
