Recently, I have gotten a lot of inquiries asking for advice on picking a great timepiece. It goes without saying that there are a ton of factors to consider when buying a watch but for the most part there are a few tenets which remain constant no matter what- craftsmanship, aesthetics, function, and price.
For the vast majority of college-aged buyers, price and aesthetics are the two most important factors in the buying process but like I said before, these metrics can vary person to person. There are a few brands that deserve some attention because they make "affordable watches the right way." Fine craftsmanship, great brand history, etc. the list could go on. I don't want this to come off as a biased piece of advertising, but I am in the process of writing a large piece on one such quality brand, Nomos Glashütte.
